new Delhi. Nepal, which introduced a bill for amendment to include the new map in the constitution a week ago, is now engaged in diplomatic maneuvers. In this map, three areas of India are shown in the border of Nepal. According to news agency ANI, the government of Nepal is seeking foreign secretary-level talks with India through video conferencing. It does not seem that India will agree on this right now.
Indian experts believe that India has always offered negotiation, but this negotiation should be meaningful. If Nepal already takes any step alone then what is the need of negotiation?
Nepal linked the border dispute with nationalism
Nepal has expedited the process of constitution amendment. The government has also proposed a constitutional amendment. The proposal is likely to pass by 9 June. After linking the issue with nationalism, the opposition is also supporting Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.
The bill for constitutional amendment was introduced on 1 June
The Government of Nepal has introduced a bill in Parliament on 1 June to include its new map in the Constitution. This new map includes three areas of India, Lipulekh, Kalapani and Limpiyadhura. Earlier, on 27 May, Olli was unable to table the bill to amend the constitution. Madhesi parties disagreed on the bill.
The government needs two-thirds of the support in Parliament for the bill to pass. The government currently has 10 votes less. However, this time the bill is expected to pass by 9 June.
Nepal released new map on 18 May
India has built a road from Lipulekh to Dharchula. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh inaugurated it through video conferencing on 8 May, only after the government of Nepal protested and released a new map on 18 May. In this, Kalapani, Lipulekh and Limpiyadhura of India told in their region.
India has rejected all claims of Nepal, saying that the new map of Nepal is not based on historical facts and evidence. India's army chief MM Narwane had said that Nepal did this at the behest of someone else (China). India and Nepal share 1800 km of border.
