New Delhi, March 25 (IANS) There has been no final decision yet on extending tourist visa-on-arrival (TVoA) to the Chinese nationals even after a meeting between the ministries of tourism and home affairs, an official said on Wednesday.
The matter was raised by Minister of State for Tourism Mahesh Sharma with Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Tuesday, the official said.
"The issue came up for discussion here yesterday (Tuesday) between the officials of the two ministries but no final decision has been taken," the home ministry official told IANS.
"It would be premature to comment on the issue as it is being pondered upon," he said.
The scheme of 'visa-on-arrival' is to be extended to many countries, including Britain, France, Spain and Italy. The proposal to include China in the list of TVoA countries has a lot of political significance as Prime Minister Narendra Modi will travel to China in May.
