Gurgaon, Jan 2 (IANS) Unidentified men burgled a house of a non-resident Indian (NRI) in an upscale residential area here and allegedly took away utensils, idols of gods made of gold and silver, and golden ornaments worth over Rs.1 crore.
The incident came to the light when NRI Nitin Goyal, in his mid-60s, returned to the house from the US, police said Friday. He lodged an FIR at the Sushant Lok police station about the burglary.
In his complaint, Goyal said he had duly intimated about his US visit for nearly a month to the Gurgaon police deputy commissioner and the US embassy November 4.
"It was the responsibility of Gurgaon police and local administration to prevent such an incident as I had informed them properly," he said.
They also took away US dollars and Indian currency worth lakhs of rupees, Goyal stated in his police complaint.
Police, accompanied by fingerprint experts, Friday visited the burgled house to collect evidence. They found that the burglers had broken window grills to enter the house.
