Police have started an investigation into the recent suicide attack in Peshawar, Pakistan. Police said on Thursday that the attacker in the suicide attack at the mosque was wearing a police uniform and reached the mosque on a motorcycle amid tight security. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province police chief Moazzam Jah Ansari said the attacker in Monday's attack has been identified as a member of a terrorist network. The police officer has considered it a security lapse. Ansari said, 'I agree that it was a security lapse. My people could not stop it. This is my fault. Let us tell you that the attack in Peshawar was quite fatal in the last decade. Such sporadic incidents keep coming to the fore here.

 

The attacker had dodged the security forces

Police officer Ansari said in the CCTV footage, the assailant wearing a helmet and mask was seen riding a motorcycle from the main post of the police line. He said that after this he parked his bike, asked the way to the mosque, and went there. "The police personnel posted at the main entrance thought he was a member of the security forces, so they did not check him," Ansari said.

 

Police are questioning the suspects

Earlier, the police chief had said that it cannot be ruled out that the attacker had inside help. He said that several suspects have been detained, and are being interrogated. According to the information, three police officers were also killed in the attack. The attack took place when hundreds of worshipers had gathered for afternoon prayers at a mosque built for police and their families in the high-security Police Lines district.
