At the same time, PM Modi is set to go on his first foreign trip after winning the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. He will go to Italy today to attend the G7 summit.

There will be an opportunity to connect with world leaders

Foreign Secretary Vinay Kwatra told in New Delhi that India has been invited as an outreach country to the conference to be held on Friday. He said that this visit will be an opportunity to connect with world leaders in the conference on important issues for India and the Global South.

This will be India's 11th and PM Modi's fifth consecutive participation in the summit. The Prime Minister will attend the outreach session. Apart from the conference, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to hold bilateral meetings with the leaders of the G7 countries.

Along with this, PM Modi will also hold a meeting with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. The Foreign Secretary said that India will be involved at the appropriate level in the Ukraine Peace Summit to be held in Switzerland.

About 90 countries will participate in the conference held in Switzerland this month. The visit will provide PM Modi an opportunity to engage with other world leaders present at the summit on issues of importance to India and the global South.
