In a post shared on social media before leaving for Kuwait, PM Modi wrote that 'India and Kuwait are not only trade and energy partners, but they also have a shared interest in peace, security, and stability in West Asia. We attach great importance to the historical relations with Kuwait, which have been going on for generations.'
PM Modi will meet the top leadership of Kuwait.
The Prime Minister wrote that this visit would further strengthen the relations between the two countries. The Prime Minister will meet the Emir, Crown Prince, and Prime Minister of Kuwait. Indira Gandhi had visited Kuwait in 1981
Before this visit of PM Modi, the late former PM Indira Gandhi had visited Kuwait in the year 1981. In 2009, the then Vice President Hamid Ansari also visited Kuwait. India and Kuwait have had historic trade relations. Before the discovery of oil in Kuwait, there was the trade of dates and horses between India and Kuwait. This trade was done through the western ports of India. During the Prime Minister's visit, important talks can take place between the two countries on energy, trade, investment, and culture. Preparations are underway for the 'Hala Modi' program at the Sheikh Saad Al Abdullah Sports Complex in Kuwait. In this program, PM Modi will address people of Indian origin.
