Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on a one-day visit to Maharashtra on June 14. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate a temple dedicated to 17th-century saint Tukaram Maharaj at Dehu near Pune city in Maharashtra today. The Prime Minister will inaugurate the Jal Bhushan Bhawan and the Gallery of Revolutionaries at the Raj Bhavan in Mumbai at around 4:15 pm. After this, at around 6 pm, the Prime Minister will participate in the Bicentenary Festival of Mumbai Samachar at the Bandra Kurla Complex in Mumbai.

Who was Jagatguru Sreesanth Tukaram Maharaj

First of all, the Prime Minister will inaugurate the Jagatguru Sreesanth Tukaram Maharaj Temple in Dehu, Pune. Sant Tukaram was a Varkari saint and poet, known for his community-oriented worship through abhyanga devotional poetry and spiritual songs known as kirtan. He lived in Dehu. A rock temple was built after his death, but it was not formally prepared as a temple. It is built in stone masonry with 36 peaks and also houses an idol of Saint Tukaram.

PM Modi's program in Mumbai

At the same time, after Pune, Prime Minister Modi will inaugurate the Jal Bhushan Bhawan and the Gallery of Revolutionaries at Raj Bhavan in Mumbai. Jal Bhushan Bhawan has been the official residence of the Governor of Maharashtra since 1885. This building was demolished and a new building was approved in its place. The foundation stone of the new building was laid by the Hon'ble President of India in August 2019. All the distinctive features of the old building have been preserved in the newly constructed building.

A bunker was found in Raj Bhavan

Let us inform you that in 2016, the then Governor of Maharashtra Vidyasagar Rao had found a bunker in the Raj Bhavan. It was earlier used by the British as secret storage of arms and ammunition. The bunker was renovated in 2019. The gallery has been developed as a one of its kind museum in the bunker to commemorate the contribution of the freedom fighters and revolutionaries of Maharashtra. It pays tribute to the contributions of Vasudev Balwant Phadke, Chapekar brothers, Savarkar brothers, Madam Bhikaji Cama, VB Goget, and Naval Mutiny, 1946 among others.
