According to reports, he was on dialysis for a long time and due to falling potassium levels in the body, he was taken to the hospital, where he breathed his last. Pradeep Sarkar, who stayed away from the media limelight, was one of the reputed directors of Bollywood.

Won five Filmfare Awards for Parineeta
Pradeep Sarkar's career started not as a director, but as an editor. He started his career with Vidhu Vinod Chopra's production house. His first film was Sanjay Dutt and Arshad Warsi's 'Munna Bhai MBBS', in which he worked in the editing department.
After this, in the year 2005, he made 'Parineeta', in which he cast Vidya Balan and Saif Ali Khan. This film got a lot of love from the audience.
As a director, he received the award for Best Art Direction, 'Most Promising Director, Best Director, and Best Debut Director for his first film. The film won five Filmfare Awards.
Did a lot of work in the world of advertising too
Pradeep Sarkar directed five films and four web series in his long film career. He made 'Laga Chunari Mein Daag' in the year 2007 with Rani Mukherjee. Konkona Sen Sharma and Abhishek Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan were also in lead roles along with Rani in this film.
Along with this, he brought the film 'Mardaani' along with Rani in the year 2014, which proved to be a blockbuster. Apart from these films, he also directed Lafangey Parindey in the year 2010 and Kajol Helicopter Eela in the year 2018. Pradeep Sarkar has worked in web series like 'Cold Lassi Aur Chicken Masala', 'Forbidden Love' and Dauranga in his career.
