A war of words over SIR: Are BLO deaths also a drama? Akhilesh asks PM Modi's 'delivery, not drama' jibe.

The winter session of Parliament has begun with a stormy start. The opposition created a ruckus over the SIR issue. Samajwadi Party National President and MP Akhilesh Yadav sharply retorted to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's taunt of "delivery, not drama" to the opposition.

He said that the "Voter List Correction" (SIR) process should be undertaken seriously and not treated as a "drama." Akhilesh also questioned whether the deaths of BLOs (Booth Level Officers) are also a "drama."

Samajwadi Party MP Akhilesh Yadav said that democracy will only be strengthened if our right to vote is not taken away. The SIR concern is becoming a reality today. If votes are cut, how will anyone fulfill their dreams? I have received information that they (the BJP) have hired large IT companies in Noida, and through them, they have access to voter list details (in Uttar Pradesh). This is going on. SIR is not meant to strengthen democracy, but to cut votes. On the ground, BLOs can't even fill out forms. Many of them are stressed. When there are no immediate elections in Uttar Pradesh, why the rush?

'Keep Negativity in Moderation and Focus on Nation Building'

The Prime Minister said, "I have been concerned for a long time that first-time MPs, or young MPs from all parties, are very distressed. They are not getting the opportunity to showcase their strengths or highlight the problems of their constituencies. Regardless of party, we should give opportunities to our new generation of young MPs. Therefore, I urge you to take these matters seriously. There is plenty of room for drama. Whoever wants to do it should do it. Here, there should be delivery, not drama. The entire country is waiting for slogans. You have already spoken where you lost, and you should speak where you are going to lose as well. Here, we should focus on policy, not slogans. Negativity may be useful in politics, but there should also be a vision for nation-building." Keep negativity within limits and focus on nation-building.

If our media friends review the situation, they will notice that for some time now, our House has been used either for election warm-ups or for election panic. They vent all their anger in the House, and some parties have started the tradition of using the House for state politics. Now they should reflect and change their strategy; I am ready to offer tips. But at least give MPs an opportunity to express themselves. Don't make MPs the victims of your disappointment and defeat. I want to tell my countrymen that the country is moving forward with new energy. Thank you.
