Islamabad United won the title by defeating Multan Sultans in the final of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2024 played on Monday. Batting first, the Multan team led by Mohammad Rizwan scored 159 runs losing nine wickets in 20 overs. In reply, Shadab Khan-led Islamabad achieved the target in the 20th over itself, losing eight wickets on the last ball. In this exciting match played in Karachi, Imad Wasim of Islamabad took five wickets and was chosen player of the match. However, he is more in the news for some other reason than these five wickets.

After Multan's innings ended, when it was Islamabad's turn to bat, Imad was seen smoking a cigarette in the dressing room. The camera was towards him when he was seen smoking. Later he started laughing. This scene has been captured in the video and is going viral on social media. After smoking, Imad came out to bat remained unbeaten, and led the team to victory.
What happened in the match?
Talking about the match, Multan won the toss and decided to bat first. Usman Khan had played an inning of 57 runs. Whereas, Rizwan had scored 26 runs. Iftikhar Ahmed scored 32 not out. Imad Wasim took five wickets for Islamabad. Whereas, Shadab got three wickets. Martin Guptill scored 50 runs for the Islamabad team chasing the target of 160 runs. Whereas, Azam Khan played an inning of 30 runs. Imad remained unbeaten after scoring 19 runs. Whereas, Naseem Shah played an inning of 17 runs in nine balls. Khushdil and Iftikhar took two wickets each for Multan. Whereas, David Willey, Mohammad Ali, and Usama Mir got one wicket each.
Islamabad won the title for the second time. Earlier, he had won the tournament in 2018 also. At the same time, Multan Sultans has been reaching the finals continuously for the last four seasons. He won the title in 2021, but for the last three times, he has to face defeat in the finals. In 2022 and 2023, Lahore Qalandars defeated them.
