SSP Swarnadeep Singh said on Monday that Amritpal's uncle Harjit Singh and driver Harpreet Singh surrendered near Gurudwara Bulandpuri in the Mehatpur area around 12.30 am on Sunday. He told that Khalistani supporter Amritpal Singh is still absconding, whose search is on. Uncle Harjeet Singh has been sent to Assam while driver Harpreet Singh is in police custody.

On March 18, in the afternoon, Amritpal fled in his Mercedes, which was being driven by his uncle Harjit Singh, on the Jalandhar-Moga National Highway near Kamalke village. According to the police, Amritpal's car was at number three in the convoy, while his car always ran at number two.

Amritpal had escaped from the other direction

As soon as the police and paramilitary jawans stopped the two vehicles coming at the front of the convoy at Kamalke village, Amritpal, who was coming 50 meters behind them, saw them. He immediately asked his driver to turn around. After this, Amritpal's driver fled from the wrong side of the highway by turning the vehicle.

After going some distance on the highway, Amritpal's car took a turn on the link road. Further, Amritpal Singh got out of the Mercedes car and got into another car. While seeing the cordon the police, Harjit Singh, and Harpreet Singh hid in a nearby house.

The supporter bought a secondhand car and gave it to drive

One of his supporters bought the Mercedes car secondhand from a Haryana businessman and gave it to drive. Although the police have said that this vehicle was not yet transferred. Rawail Singh, who had bought this vehicle from a Haryana businessman, has also been caught on charges of drug smuggling. The police have also started probing the drug connection. A pistol has been recovered from Harjeet Singh, who is a licensee. The police are also investigating him.
