On the day of Rakshabandhan, the sisters tie rakhi on the wrist of their brother's hand and ask for the promise of their protection. Apart from this, sisters pray to God for the happiness and prosperity of their brothers.
Along with Rakshabandhan, on Bhai Dooj, sisters also pray for the long life of their brothers. But there is a state in India where sisters curse brothers to die. You may not believe this, but it is true. After cursing the brothers, sisters also atone for it. This is a tradition that has been going on for years. Let us know what is this tradition and in which state it is celebrated.
Know where the tradition is celebrated
This peculiar tradition is celebrated in Chhattisgarh. People of a particular community follow it in the Jashpur district of the state. The girls of this community curse their brothers to die and this is done on the day of Bhai Dooj. On Bhai Dooj, sisters curse their brothers after waking up in the morning. To atone for this, sisters prick their tongues with a thorn.

What is the story behind the tradition?
According to mythological beliefs, Yamraj once came to earth to kill a person whose sister had never cursed him. Yamraj found a man whose sister had never cursed him and he loved his brother very much. His sister gets to know about Yamraj's plan that she wants to kill her brother.
