There has been news of relief amid the second wave of the corona epidemic in India. In fact, regarding the danger of the variant of the coronavirus found in India, the World Health Organization (WHO) said that now only one variant of 'Delta' is a matter of concern, while the risk of the other two strains has reduced. This variant of Corona is known as B.1.617. Due to this, there was huge destruction in the second wave of Corona in India. It is a triple mutant variant as it is in three species (lineage).
The World Health Organization said on Tuesday that only one strain of the 'delta' variant of Covid-19, first found in India, is now a matter of concern, while the risk of the remaining two strains has reduced. This variant of Corona is known as B.1.617. It has three variants B.1.617.1, B.1.617.2, and B.1.617.3.
Let us inform that last month the World Health Organization had described the entire strain of this variant of Corona as 'Variant of Concern'. The Government of India had lodged its objection on this. At the same time, the WHO said that only a sub-lineage of it is now a matter of concern. That is, out of three strains of the B.1.617 variant, only one strain is a matter of concern. WHO said that B.1.617.2 is now a cause of concern for public health at large, while the rate of spread of infection in the other two forms is very low.
WHO said that B.1.617.2 is still VOC and we are monitoring the increasing rate of infection due to this and increasing cases of infection in many countries due to this pattern. Studies on the impact of this pattern are a high priority for WHO.

The WHO on Monday announced a new system for naming key forms of COVID-19 and the names are based on the Greek alphabet (such as alpha, beta, gamma, etc.), making them easier to name and remember.
The WHO said in its statement that 13,64,668 new cases of Covid-19 were reported in India last week, which is 26 percent less than the previous weeks.
There were 420,981 new cases in Brazil, 219,910 in Argentina, 153,587 in the US, and 150,517 in Colombia. The Southeast Asia region reported more than 1.5 million new cases and over 29,000 deaths, down 24 percent and eight percent, respectively, from the previous week.
The statement said that the cases of infection have decreased for the third consecutive week and the death toll has decreased for the first time since the beginning of March 2021. The highest number of deaths occurred in India in the South Asia region. This was followed by more deaths in Indonesia and Nepal.
