Lucknow, Feb 5 (IANS) The Uttar Pradesh chief secretary Thursday issued instructions to district officials to ensure that stumbling blocks like handpumps, water lines, electric poles and transformers on the route of the proposed six lane Agra-Lucknow expressway are removed on priority basis.

Chief Secretary Alok Ranjan Thursday held a high-level meeting with officials concerned with the expressway.

Navneet Sehgal, chief executive officer (CEO) of UP Expressways Industrial Development Authority (UPIEDA), told IANS that officials and departments have been asked to clear the roads and "shift utilities" on the route by Feb 10.

Officials of the Public Works Department (PWD) have been asked to expedite work on the expressway and post a technical staff 'on deputation' for the work within the next week.

Concerned district magistrates have been asked to communicate directly to farmers and give them due compensation.
