Riyaz Naikoo, the top terrorist of Hizbul Mujahideen killed today, was the face of Hizbul Mujahideen in Kashmir after the death of Burhan Wani in the year 2016 and he had recruited hundreds of youths in Hizbul Mujahideen in Kashmir. This terrorist of A ++ category was from south Kashmir. A reward of 12 lakhs was placed on Riyaz. Riyaz Naiku used to paint before he became a terrorist and taught math to children. According to the police, Naiku's mother's health was deteriorating for the past several days. He reached his village Pegipora on Tuesday only to meet his mother. Musa split from Hizbul in 2017 to form his own group that claimed to be an ally of Qaeda's Indian ally. On 23 May 2019, Moosa was killed in Dadrasara area of Tral Tehsil in an encounter with security forces. After that, all the terrorists of Moosa's organization were killed by the security forces.

Nayaku was considered a fierce terrorist in the valley. He is said to be responsible for killing 20 people, including four policemen. Naiku's name quickly emerged as commander after the killing of terrorist Burhan Wani in July 2016.
