EY Employee Death '5 days a week and 8 hours of work', Shashi Tharoor angry with Anna Perayil's death, is going to take a big step

He has expressed grief over the death of a 26-year-old employee of EY. At the same time, he has also reacted to the working system within the public and private sectors of the country. It is being told that Anna Sebastian Perayil died due to an unsafe and exploitative work environment in the office.

 

Congress MP Shashi Tharoor suggested on Friday that people in the country should not work more than 40 hours every week. According to the information, Anna, who joined EY company just four months ago, used to work 14 hours a day.

Shashi Tharoor further said that Anna's father has suggested that whether it is public or private sector, every employee in the country should work five days a week and 8 hours daily. I agree with Anna's father. I will raise the issue of creating a fixed calendar for all workplaces through Parliament."

 

The Congress MP further wrote, "A law should be made to end inhumanity at the workplace and provide for strict punishment and penalty for the offenders. Human rights are not limited to the workplace only."

 

'My daughter had to work till 12:30 in the night'

 

Speaking to the media this week, Anna Sebastian Perayil's father said that his daughter had to work till 12.30 in the night. He had also advised his daughter to quit the job.

EY India Chairman Rajiv Memani also stated on Thursday that no one from the company attending the funeral was against their culture and that they "will not rest" until the objective of creating a harmonious workplace is achieved.
