Rajasthan Royals team will play its 13th match on Wednesday against Punjab Kings, who are out of the playoff race. With the victory of Delhi Capitals, Sanju Samson's team has become the second team to reach the playoffs. Three teams are already out of the race for the playoffs. These include Mumbai Indians, Punjab Kings, and Gujarat Titans. Now the battle continues between five teams for two places. These include Chennai Super Kings, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Delhi Capitals, and Lucknow Super Giants.
Ryan did a great performance
This year's homecoming is special for Parag as he has performed brilliantly by scoring 483 runs at a strike rate of 153. This performance has made Parag a contender for a place in the Indian team for the next T20 series where he is expected to make his international debut. Whenever that happens, Parag will become the first cricketer from the North-East to wear the iconic blue jersey of the senior team. The support for the 22-year-old here will be natural and will also help Sanju Samson and his team against Punjab.
Shashank-Ashutosh impressed
Shashank Singh and Ashutosh Sharma have performed well for the Punjab Kings in the current season, but the team failed to put together an effective performance. The absence of captain Shikhar Dhawan due to injury for most of the season made matters worse as stand-in captain Sam Curran did not look effective while captaining the side.
Sanju's height increased
On the other hand, Samson's stature as a captain has increased, and the current season is expected to be his best season as a batsman. He is already his team's top scorer with 486 runs. Considering the level of Yashasvi Jaiswal (344 runs) and Jos Buttler (359 runs), the current season has been average for this opening pair.
bowling strong side
The strongest aspect of the Royals is their bowling unit which has performed well for almost the entire season. Sandeep Sharma's economy rate of 8.07 in the death overs and Trent Boult's economy rate of 8.38 in the opening overs have been impressive for the team. The spin duo of Ravichandran Ashwin and Yuzvendra Chahal has also impressed.
The playing 11 of both the teams are as follows
Rajasthan Royals: Yashasvi Jaiswal, Tom Kohler-Cadmore, Sanju Samson (captain, wicketkeeper), Ryan Parag, Shimron Hetmyer, Dhruv Jurel, R Ashwin, Trent Boult, Avesh Khan, Kuldeep Sen and Yuzvendra Chahal.
Punjab Kings: Shikhar Dhawan, Prabhsimran Singh, Sam Curran, Liam Livingstone/Jonny Bairstow, Sikandar Raza, Jitesh Sharma (wk), Shashank Singh, Ashutosh Sharma, Harpreet Brar, Harshal Patel and Kagiso Rabada.
