Kremlin (Russian presidential office) officials said Ukraine targeted the Crimean peninsula with a drone strike on Tuesday. Moscow's army is on alert after this attack. The attack comes just days after Ukraine claimed another territorial victory and Moscow consolidated its position on the Crimean peninsula.
The governor of the Sevastopol administrative region in Crimea, Mikhail Razvozhayev, said in a telegram that there had been a drone strike. Our Air Defense Forces are still working. He said that two drones have already been shot down.
Razvozayev said that no civilian infrastructure was damaged. Residents living here have been called upon to remain calm.

Moscow used it as a launching pad in February
Russia used the Crimean peninsula in the war. Many important military bases in Russia are also located here. Moscow used it as a launching pad for its February invasion of Ukraine. But in recent months Ukrainian forces have been launching a counteroffensive south toward Crimea and earlier this month recaptured the region's capital Kherson.
There have been several explosions at or near Russian military installations in Crimea since February. This includes a coordinated drone attack on a major Russian naval port in Sevastopol in October.
