Russia Ukraine War: Russia claims, Ukraine carried out drone attacks on the Crimean peninsula; Moscow army on alert

Kremlin (Russian presidential office) officials said Ukraine targeted the Crimean peninsula with a drone strike on Tuesday. Moscow's army is on alert after this attack. The attack comes just days after Ukraine claimed another territorial victory and Moscow consolidated its position on the Crimean peninsula.

The governor of the Sevastopol administrative region in Crimea, Mikhail Razvozhayev, said in a telegram that there had been a drone strike. Our Air Defense Forces are still working. He said that two drones have already been shot down.

Razvozayev said that no civilian infrastructure was damaged. Residents living here have been called upon to remain calm.

Explain that Moscow annexed Crimea in 2014 after pro-democracy demonstrations across the country. After this, the Kremlin-friendly President of Ukraine was removed.

Moscow used it as a launching pad in February

Russia used the Crimean peninsula in the war. Many important military bases in Russia are also located here. Moscow used it as a launching pad for its February invasion of Ukraine. But in recent months Ukrainian forces have been launching a counteroffensive south toward Crimea and earlier this month recaptured the region's capital Kherson.

There have been several explosions at or near Russian military installations in Crimea since February. This includes a coordinated drone attack on a major Russian naval port in Sevastopol in October.

Fortification work is being done for security

Last week, the governor of the Moscow-aligned region, Sergei Aksyonov, said authorities were strengthening the position on the peninsula. The fortification work is being carried out to guarantee the safety of all Crimeans.

Ukraine said on Tuesday it had recaptured almost the entire territory of an isolated peninsula of the Black Sea where fighting continues.

With the Kinburn Split officially no longer a war zone, we are left with three settlements, Mykolaiv regional governor Vitaly Kim said on social media. We are restoring full control of the region.
