Russia-Ukraine war: Mountain of troubles after the war, despite this Indians are not ready to leave Russia

Posted on 3rd Aug 2022 12:25 pm by rohit kumar

Russia's attacks on Ukraine have been continuing for 160 days. During this, countries around the world continue to impose strict sanctions on Russia. Now Russia is counted as the country which has the most sanctions. Earlier this record was with Iran. These sanctions have affected not only Russia but also the Indians living here.

Despite all the difficulties, he is not considering leaving Russia. More than 500 international companies, including Apple, have ceased business with Russia. People living in Russia have been cut off from facilities like phone banking, internet banking, education, business, and entertainment.

No payment for OTT subscription

Dattan Nair, a Moscow-based media manager, says people's routines have deteriorated. People are unable to pay for YouTube, Netflix, or cloud storage subscriptions. A VPN service has to be used to access platforms like Facebook or English news websites, which are very unstable. The reason for this is that the Russian government stops services every day.

Students are unable to use their international card

Nair says that our children live abroad, and we are not able to send money to them. We have recently faced an issue where no courier company was ready to ship multiple magazines from India to Russia. Abhishek Mohanty is pursuing his Ph.D. from St Petersburg University. They agree that the issue of payment is causing the most trouble. Thousands of Indian students studying in Russia are no longer able to use their international cards.

Abhishek said that the good thing in all is that many students started working to get paid in rubles. I got a job in marketing and it's a great thing for me. Dr. Rameshwar Singh, founder of the Disha Foundation in Moscow explains that in 2014 India and Russia inspired small and medium businesses to start.

business problems

He said that new small and medium companies recovering from Corona are facing difficulties in doing business in Russia and India simultaneously, as there is no clear policy. Asked whether the war has closed Indian businesses in Russia, Singh said some industries have suffered a lot during the pandemic.

Indians, youth who are avoiding giving an opinion on war are against this war

Russian society is divided over the war. Usually, the children are opposing the operation, while the parents are in favor of this war. The Indian community is still left out of this emotional conflict. Nair said that often there are arguments with Russian friends, but so far no one has broken ties with us. Abhishek Mohanty explains that in big cities like Moscow and St. Petersburg, there is strong opposition to the war among the people. But support for the government is more in smaller towns like Arkhan Gelsk, where he has been living for the past three years.

The Indian student community is also united, while many students from Europe and Japan have been instructed by the embassy to leave the country. Those students from India, who had come to Russia for research and were funded them by western countries, had a problem. This funding is closed.
