Former Indian team batsman Shikhar Dhawan has left the Enforcement Directorate (ED) office after a long interrogation. Dhawan was questioned by the ED in Delhi on Thursday in a money laundering case related to an alleged illegal betting app. Dhawan left the ED office after more than seven hours. Dhawan was called by the ED for questioning. Actually, this case is related to an online platform called One-X-Bet (1xBet), which is said to be involved in illegal betting activities.

ED had sent a summons

ED officials have started investigating his possible promotional or partnership ties in this case. The ED had summoned Dhawan to appear at the agency headquarters at 11 am on Thursday to record his statement and find out what his relationship with this app has been through promotion and endorsement. Dhawan's interrogation started immediately after reaching the headquarters, and he recorded his statement before the investigators. Dhawan underwent a long interrogation during this time, and finally, he left the ED office around eight o'clock.

What is the matter?

The name of the 39-year-old former Indian cricketer is being linked to this app through some advertisements. During the interrogation, the ED wants to understand what role or relationship he has had with this app. The ED is investigating whether Shikhar Dhawan used his image in the promotion of this betting app and took any payment in return. The inquiry is being conducted under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), and Dhawan's statement has also been recorded under this Act. The ED is trying to find out any financial or non-financial partnership of his in this illegal network.

Raina has also been questioned

Earlier also, the ED had called many big names for questioning. Recently, former cricketer Suresh Raina was also questioned in Delhi in this case. Apart from this, some other companies and digital platforms have also come under investigation. Last month, the ED also raided several states in a case related to another online betting app, Parimatch.
