Shimla, Jan 5 (IANS) It was sunny Monday but icy winds swept through the hills of Himachal Pradesh, with the higher reaches recording sub-zero temperatures.
Shimla saw a rise in night temperature. It recorded a low of 4.3 degrees Celsius, a rise from Sunday's 1.2 degrees, the weather office here said.
Keylong in Lahaul and Spiti district and Kalpa in Kinnaur district froze in temperatures recorded at minus 8.9 degrees and minus 5 degrees Celsius respectively.
The mercury in picturesque tourist resort Manali also slipped to 3 degrees Celsius below the freezing point. In Dharamsala the minimum was 3.8 degrees.
Chamba town recorded the night temperature at 5.5 degrees Celsius.
The Met Office said dry weather would prevail in the state in the next few days.
