West Bengal is once again in the grip of violence and communal tension. The tension broke out between two communities in the Mominpur area here last night, after which there was fierce violence and vandalism. Several vehicles and shops were vandalized, after which the situation remained tense in the entire area. Here, amid communal tension, BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari has written a letter to the Union Home Minister demanding the deployment of central forces.
According to the information, on the occasion of Milad-un-Nabi, sudden violence broke out in Ekbalpur of Mominpur late last night. Here people of a community surrounded the Ekbalpur police station. After this, the uncontrollable mob vandalized the nearby shops apart from the vehicles parked on the road. There have also been reports of stone pelting and bomb-throwing at many places. After this, RAF has been deployed in the entire area.
BJP's allegation, the Mamta government is not taking action
After the violence and tension in Mominpur, BJP leader Dr. Sukant Majumdar shared a video on his Twitter handle. In this video, many vehicles are seen lying on the road. He wrote tauntingly, "shops and bikes of Hindus were vandalized by a peace-loving community while celebrating their festival Milad-un-Nabi. As usual, CM Mamta Banerjee did not take any action and left those people open.
Many BJPmen including Sukant Majumdar in custody
Several BJP leaders including BJP state president Sukant Majumdar have been taken into custody. They were also trying to go to Momnipur. Police detained them from Chingrighata and they have been kept in Lalbazar Central lock-up. According to the information, the detained leaders include Sukant Majumdar, State Secretary Umesh Rai, and BJP leader RK Handa.
The matter of the deployment of central forces reached the High Court
After the violence and communal tension in Mominpur, the matter of deployment of central forces has reached the High Court. A PIL has been filed in the Calcutta High Court seeking immediate deployment of central forces in Kolkata. At the same time, Leader of Opposition in the Assembly Suvendu Adhikari, BJP MLA Agnimitra Paul, and a delegation of party MLAs will meet the Governor today in the violence case.
