He was performing a stunt on the set of filmmaker PA Ranjit's upcoming film 'Arya'. During this, SM Raju died while performing a stunt of overturning the car. Actor Vishal has now expressed grief over Raju's death.

The video of this horrific accident and the stunt in which SM Raju lost his life has also surfaced. In the video, SM Raju can be seen doing the stunt of overturning the car. As soon as he came onto the ramp, his car lost balance and overturned several times in the air, and then fell onto the front part. A few minutes after the accident, the crew shooting the scene realized the incident and ran towards the car, but found Raju seriously injured. He died due to injuries.
Actor Vishal called him a brave man.
Tamil actor Vishal has expressed his condolences and expressed grief over the death of stuntman SM Raju. Vishal described Raju as a brave person in his post on X and wrote, "It is hard to believe that stunt artist Raju died this morning while performing a car overturning scene for Jamie and Ranjit's film. I have known Raju for so many years, and he has done many risky stunts in my films again and again. He is a very brave person. My deepest condolences to him. May his soul rest in peace. May God give his family the strength to bear this loss."
Vishal assured help to the family.
Actor Vishal further wrote in his post, 'Not limited to just this tweet, but being from the same film industry and for his contribution in so many films, I will be there for the future of his family. I give them my support wholeheartedly and consider it my duty. May God bless them.'
Stunt choreographer Silva expressed grief.
Apart from Vishal, stunt choreographer Silva expressed his condolences to Raju's family through a post on his Instagram handle. In his post, he wrote, "One of our greatest car jumping stunt artists, SM Raju, passed away today while performing a car stunt. Our stunt union and the Indian film industry will miss him."
