A ceasefire has finally been declared on the conflict between Thailand and Cambodia that has been going on for the last five days. Amid international efforts to end the conflict, Thai and Cambodian leaders held talks in Malaysia, hosted by Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.

At a press conference with the leaders of Thailand and Cambodia, Anwar said, "An immediate and unconditional ceasefire will come into effect from midnight tonight. This is the file." Anwar had proposed ceasefire talks soon after the long-running border dispute turned into a conflict on Thursday. China and the US had also offered assistance in the talks.

'Hopefully the fighting will stop now'

Hun Manet said, "Today our meeting was very good and its results were also good. Due to which it is hoped that this fighting, which has caused many people to die, many people have been injured, and many people have been displaced, will stop immediately." He praised the efforts of the US and China for participating in this process.

On the other hand, acting Thai Prime Minister Phumtham Vechayachai said that Thailand has agreed to a ceasefire, which will be successfully implemented with goodwill from both sides.

Donald Trump had given a warning.

Tensions between Thailand and Cambodia have increased since the killing of a Cambodian soldier during a clash in late May.
