BJP MP Ravi Shankar Prasad addressed a press conference on Congress' announcement of protests outside ED offices across the country in the National Herald case.
"On behalf of the BJP, I want to clarify at the outset that though the Congress party certainly has the powers and the right to stage dharnas, it is not limited to misusing the public property given to National Herald by the government," the BJP leader said.
He targeted Congress fiercely.
"Congress, despite being a political party, gave the party funds to a private entity, which is banned. When the company refused to repay the loan, a corporate conspiracy was hatched to transfer the entire property to the family. A new company named Young Indian was formed, in which Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi had 38-38% stake."
Ravi Shankar Prasad said, "On behalf of the BJP, we want to ask Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and Congress, should the law not do its work? You have illegally and wrongly occupied property worth thousands of crores, so should we remain silent on this?"
'Sonia and Rahul are out on bail'
He alleged, "The family bought property worth 90 crores for just 50 lakhs. Another family member bought land for 3 crores and commercialized it and sold it for 58 crores. This is the 'Gandhi model of development'. One thing that should be remembered is that Sonia and Rahul Gandhi are out on bail. They made every effort to end the investigation."
He said the court gave only this relief that they were not required to appear in person. The investigation has been going on for four years and no satisfactory answer has been given yet.
Targeted Mamata on Murshidabad violence
On Murshidabad violence, BJP MP Ravi Shankar Prasad said, "What is happening in Bengal Mamata ji? How low can you stoop for the vote bank? Hindus are being killed, they are migrating. Mamata ji, has your government become completely insensitive towards basic human values?"
