Hisar Airport or Rajkot Greenfield International Airport is going to be operational from August this year. According to the District Magistrate of Rajkot, with this project, the dream of 'Hawai Chappal to Hawai Jahaz' of Prime Minister Narendra Modi seems to be realized.
The airport, located 30 km from the industrial city of Rajkot, is being built in four phases on an area of 1,032 hectares. It will have a total of 14 parking stands with a passenger terminal area of 23,000 square meters.
Rajkot District Magistrate Arun Mahesh Babu told news agency ANI that the construction work is going on very fast, the airport should be operational by August or September this year. About 85 percent of work on the runway has been completed. ,
It is worth noting that the number of people traveling by air in the country has increased significantly in the last few years. People wearing air slippers are also now traveling by plane. In November last year, 1.05 crore people traveled by plane, an increase of 64 percent on an annual basis. Whereas in October this number was around 90 lakh and in September 70 lakh. With the increase in the number of air passengers, a new way of earning has been opened for the government. The government has included 25 airports under the National Monetization Plan.
Know the new plan of the government
In the next three years, 25 airports in the country will go into private hands. These airports will be selected based on annual traffic and the proposed capital expenditure plan. These airports include Varanasi, Bhubaneswar, Indore, Raipur, Dehradun, Chennai, Ranchi, Patna, etc.
There are plans to sell Calicut, Nagpur, Madurai, Coimbatore, Surat, Jodhpur, Patna, and Ranchi airports in the financial year 2022-23. This will be followed by Vijayawada, Vadodara, Tirupati, Chennai, Bhopal, and Hubli airports in the financial year 2023-24. Lastly, there are plans to hand over Imphal, Udaipur, Agartala, Dehradun, and Rajahmundry airports to private hands.
Why is the government doing this?
Last year, 133 out of 137 airports suffered huge losses due to the Corona epidemic. Most airports have been a continuous loss for the last three years. However, this decision of the government will affect the public only, because private companies will provide better facilities, but will charge more for it. In such a situation, the share of airport charges on air tickets will increase.
