A record 69,454 sample tests were held in Madhya Pradesh on May 17. Of this, 5412 reports came out positive. This number is the lowest in the last 37 days. The rate of infection has come down to 8%, up from 13% 7 days ago. The biggest reason behind this decline is the government's testing strategy. The government is showing confidence in the Rapid Antigen Test (RAT), which experts do not have.
The ratio of Rapid Antigen and RT-PCR test in the state has been 59:41 in Monday's data, while according to the guideline it should be 30:70. The government has increased rapid tests by decreasing RT-PCR, whose 'record' is recorded differently.
Sources in the health department said that on May 11, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had asked the states to extend the sample test. Since then, the figures of corona tests in Madhya Pradesh have increased every day. Government figures show that a positive positivity rate has suddenly started to occur with more than 50% rapid test. 40,985 rapid antigen tests were conducted in the state on May 17, in which 1296 (3%) were found infected. In 28,559 RT-PCR, 14% of the sample reported positive.
Testing continues by keeping the guideline on edge
According to the World Health Organization (WHO) and ICMR's Gadline, Rapid Antigen Tests should not exceed 30%, but if you look at the figures of last 7 days in Madhya Pradesh, then antigen tests are increasing from 51% to 60% ie double There is also a record of maximum sample test in the last 7 days in the state.
Which test is accurate and reliable?
The results of the RT-PCR test are the most reliable for the corona test. Although it takes time to report, it is considered a gold standard. Apart from this, there is also RAT, the results of which are immediately known. If the RAT report is positive, it is the corona. If the RAT report is negative despite symptoms appearing, then RT-PCR should be done.
70 patients died in the last 24 hours
So far 7,103 patients have died from Corona. This includes 70 deaths on Monday. 7–7 died in Bhopal and Gwalior, 5 in Indore, and 4 in Jabalpur. Indore has the highest number of 1,262 new corona infected. 661 new patients were found in Bhopal. 306 new infections were detected in Jabalpur and 175 in Gwalior. The number of active cases in the state has come down to 82,967.
