
Police have arrested a couple in connection with the theft of Rs 2.47 crore from Bollywood actress Sonam Kapoor and her husband Anand Ahuja's house in Delhi. The theft from Sonam's house was done by Aparna, a nurse working there, along with her husband Naresh. They gradually stole 2.47 crores by mixing jewelery and cash.
Police said on Wednesday that Aparna was looked after by Sonam Kapoor's mother-in-law Sarla Ahuja and her husband Naresh Kumar Sagar is an accountant in a private firm in Shakarpur. The theft took place on February 11 and an FIR was lodged on February 23. According to sources, the stolen cash and jewelry have not been recovered so far.
According to news agency PTI, a senior police officer said that the Crime Branch team of Delhi Police along with a team of Special Staff Branch of New Delhi district raided Sarita Vihar on Tuesday night. They arrested both Nurse Wilson and her husband. Both are 31 years old. Police said further investigation is on and most of the people working in the house have been questioned.
Due to the high-profile case, senior officers of Delhi Police had formed several teams, not taking it seriously. Apart from 25 servants, 9 caretakers, drivers and gardeners and other employees also work in the house. All were being questioned by the police.
