JNU's Kaveri Hostel Committee and Mess Committee issued a statement calling the ABVP's claim false, according to which ABVP did not create a ruckus about non-veg in the mess.
The Mess Committee says that in the incident that happened on April 10, there was a violation of the right to eat. ABVP workers threatened chicken vendors in the hostel mess. According to the mess committee, non-veg is served to the students 4 days a week. On the day of Ram Navami, it was decided to become non-veg with the consent of the students. ABVP created a ruckus in the mess for not becoming non-veg.
Kaveri Hostel Committee says that ABVP has claimed that the worship of Ram Navami was disturbed, and stopped from performing Havan. But ABVP does not have any proof of this. ABVP claimed that Puja and Iftar were going on simultaneously while Puja started at 4:00 PM and Iftar started after 6:45 PM.
Not only this, there are many such videos, which prove that not only the Kaveri hostel but also some people from outside are coming and threatening the chicken vendor. Chicken vendors are saying the same thing. The warden of Kaveri Hostel asked the mess secretary not to make non-veg on the day of Ram Navami through WhatsApp without the consent of the students. After which the mess secretary refused to do so. Because the warden cannot tamper with the menu of the mess.
The hostel committee demands that the press release issued by the JNU administration is completely wrong, it should be withdrawn. An inquiry should also be instituted over the warden, whoever is found guilty in this, should be removed. JNU administration should meet the injured and at the same time take legal action against the culprits.
