The 12th match of IPL 15 will be played between Lucknow Super Giants and Sunrisers Hyderabad from 7:30 pm today at DY Patil Stadium, Mumbai. After debuting with a defeat in the IPL, Lucknow proved the tagline of 'Ab Apni Bari Hai' right in their second match by chasing a huge target of 211 runs for Chennai Super Kings.
Now he is eyeing another big win. On the other hand, the Hyderabad team will take the field after a humiliating 61-run defeat at the hands of Rajasthan.
Sunrisers are facing the brunt of not doing homework in the auction
After not retaining players like Jonny Bairstow, David Warner, and Manish Pandey, it was felt that SRH wanted to enter the field with renewed vigor by forming a new team, but during the auction, Hyderabad Management did not see any strategy to buy the players. The team was selected on the lines of 'who is coming, everyone is good'. There is currently no reliable opening pair in this team instead than the explosive opening pair of Warner and Bairstow. Even in the middle order, no Indian player gives a lot of hope.
Lucknow won based on top-order and middle-order
In their second match of the season, Lucknow Super Giants achieved the target of 211 runs against Chennai based on brilliant batting. This is the fourth-highest run chase in the history of IPL. For Lucknow, De Kock scored 61, KL Rahul scored 40 and Evin Lewis scored 55. He won the match by six wickets in three balls.
De Kock got the team off to a great start with skipper Lokesh Rahul (40) adding 99 runs for the first wicket. After this, Lewis took the team to the target by sharing an unbroken 40-run partnership in just 2.1 overs for the fifth wicket with Ayush Badoni.
Bhuvneshwar's no ball changed the momentum, spin also breathless
In the first match of the season against RR, SRH won the toss and elected to bowl first. The bowlers of the team were also getting a swing in the beginning. Jos Buttler could not even open his account after playing 7 balls. Just one run came off Bhuvneshwar's first over. In this over he also dismissed Butler, but the ball turned out to be a no-ball.
Despite bowling well, Sunrisers bowlers could not take early wickets in the beginning. If that ball from Bhuvneshwar had not been any ball and Sunrisers would have got the wicket, Rajasthan could have been put under pressure. Washington Sundar was Sunrisers' best spinner, but he was a complete flop in the bowling. He conceded 47 runs in three overs and could not even take wickets. Hyderabad will have to abstain from such bowling in today's match.
It was heavy to send Markram down, the controversial catch snatched the match
Sunrisers captain Kane Williamson fed Aidan Markram at the fifth-order against RR. Markram scored the highest 57 runs for Hyderabad while remaining unbeaten. Sending Markram to the top order could have been more beneficial. He scored a lot of runs while batting at number four for South Africa in the T20 World Cup.
Kane Williamson was caught at slip on the fourth ball of the second over of Hyderabad's innings. The ball reached the wicketkeeper, Sanju Samson, with the outer edge of the bat. Hitting Sanju's gloves, the ball came into the hands of Devdutt Padikkal standing in the slips. Although some part of the ball was seen hitting the ground before Devdutt took the catch, the umpire declared Williamson out.
Had Williamson not been given out on this catch, the match could have been turned around to a great extent. Sunrisers have also made an official complaint to the IPL Governing Council. He would like to make up for this with his batting today.
Every player of Hyderabad will have to understand the responsibility
The sunrise team lacks star players and in such a situation, its other players need to perform better. Veteran bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar bowled economically in the last match but bowlers like Romero Shepherd, Umran Malik, T Natarajan, and Washington Sundar conceded more runs in the last match.
If Sunrisers have to present a challenge to their rival team, then its bowlers will have to perform better. In the batting, his focus rests on captain Kane Williamson, Rahul Tripathi, Nicholas Pooran, Aidan Markram, Abdul Samad, and Abhishek Sharma. In the last match, only Markram was able to walk while Sundar's innings of 40 runs in 14 balls gave a ray of hope for the team ahead.
