To make Independence Day special this time, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has appealed to the people to make the Tricolor campaign successful at every home. The Prime Minister appealed to the people to unfurl the national flag in their respective homes between August 13 and August 15. PM Modi also tweeted about this. He wrote this campaign will deepen our association with the tricolor. He mentioned that the tricolor was adopted as the national flag only on July 22, 1947.
The Prime Minister said, "We today remember the courage and efforts of all those who dreamed of a flag for independent India when we were fighting against colonial rule. We reiterate our commitment to fulfill their dreams and build India of their dreams."
The Prime Minister further said that this year, as we celebrate the 'Azadi Ka Amrit' festival, let us strengthen the 'Har Ghar Tiranga' movement. From August 13 to 15, hoist or display the tricolor in your homes. This campaign will deepen our association with the national flag."
Modi also shared on Twitter the details of the official communication regarding the adoption of the tricolor as the national flag. He also tweeted a picture of the first tricolor hoisted by India's first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru. The government has planned to launch the 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign on the 75th anniversary of India's independence.
