
After two and a half years of preparations, the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) is going to be implemented in Uttarakhand today. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami will inaugurate the portal and manual of UCC in the Chief Servant House today. Preparations for this have also been completed at the government level. A letter in this regard was also issued by the Home Secretary on Saturday. With this, Uttarakhand will become the first state in the country to implement the Uniform Civil Code.
An expert committee was constituted on 27 May 2022 for the Uniform Civil Code. The committee submitted its report to the government on 2 February 2024. After this, the bill was passed in the Assembly on 8 March 2024. After passing from the Assembly, it was sent for the approval of the President. From here, on 12 March 2024, the President's approval was received on this Act. After this, technology-based arrangements were implemented for the implementation of UCC. Online portals were developed for citizens and officials. On January 20, the Cabinet passed it by finalizing the UCC manual. For the past several days, mock drills were also going on at various levels regarding registration on its portal.
The problems faced earlier in the mock drill held on Friday were resolved. Now this portal is fully ready for use by common citizens and officials. It will be inaugurated at 12.30 pm. Along with this, the rules of UCC will also be launched. After this, online registration of marriage, divorce, live-in, separation from live-in, inheritance, etc. will be started.

- Meetings were held with 43 stakeholders.
- 72 in-depth discussion meetings were held.
- 49 lakh SMS were received.
- 29 lakh WhatsApp messages were received.
- 2.33 lakh citizens gave suggestions.
- Suggestions were received on 61 thousand portals.
- 36 thousand suggestions were received by post.
- 1.20 lakh suggestions came by hand.
- Suggestions also came through 24 thousand e-mails.
UCCs of these countries were studied: Saudi, Turkey, Indonesia, Nepal, France, Azerbaijan, Germany, Japan, and Canada.
