2413 teachers working in UP's Basic Education Council schools have been found working with fake documents. The department has identified these 2413 teachers in the last three years. Out of these, along with the dismissal of 2336 teachers working with fake documents, FIR has also been registered against about 1883. According to the department, action is on against the rest. All these teachers have been caught in separate investigations.
The process of action against fake teachers started in 2018 when the SIT in an investigation found more than 4 thousand degrees of Agra University wrong in the investigation. Their list was sent to all the departments. When the investigation started, a large number of teachers were found in the schools of the Basic Education Council who had used these fake degrees for jobs. After this, the action against them started.
At the same time, in 2020, another such case came up which created a stir. A teacher named Anamika Shukla was exposed to working in many Kasturba Gandhi schools and taking a salary from different places of the same teacher. After this, CM Yogi Adityanath launched a massive campaign and instructed them to take action against fake teachers. After this, the department started checking the documents of all the teachers. Meanwhile, the STF also caught many fake teachers.
Most cases have been reported in Agra
According to the list prepared by the department recently, 2413 fake teachers have been caught so far. Some were doing jobs with a fake degree, while some were in the job by messing up in some other way. The maximum number of cases have been reported in Agra. According to DG School Education Vijay Kiran Anand, the campaign to identify fake teachers is going on. Now more fake teachers can be found because documents of many teachers have been sent to universities for verification.
But the matter is not limited to just finding and sacking fake teachers. As part of the action against them, the department had also started recovery of salary from them. However, this matter reached the Allahabad High Court and in February this year, the court stayed the recovery of salary in many cases. Now the department is again preparing to go to court against this decision regarding salary recovery. According to the officials of the department, some of the fake teachers were working for 5-7 years and some were appointed 10 years ago. According to the officials, according to an estimate, more than one thousand crore rupees can be recovered from these teachers.
