Tripura: PM Modi will inaugurate the first dental college, CM Manik Saha gave information

Tripura's first Dental College inauguration on sunday: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate Tripura's first Dental College on Sunday. Tripura CM Chief Minister Manik Saha has given this information while addressing a press conference on Thursday night. He said that the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has given permission to set up a Dental College in the new building of IGM Hospital on Thursday based on the recommendations of the Dental Council of India (DCI).

 

DCI's executive council approved

CM Saha said that a team of DCI visited the proposed building for the Dental College on December 12 and 13 and inspected the facilities. He said, "They were impressed with the infrastructure in the proposed building and the proposal to set up a dental college was approved by the Executive Council of DCI on Thursday, December 15.

Medical college will have 50 seats

Chief Minister Manik Saha also holds the portfolio of Health and Family Welfare. He informed that the Dental College would have 50 seats and it would function under the Tripura Central University. He said, "Out of 50 seats, 15 per cent seats will be reserved for the central pool, while 7/8 seats will be reserved for the North Eastern states and the remaining seats will be reserved for Tripura students.

 

Academic session from September next year

CM Saha has described the establishment of Dental College as a dream project for the state. He said that the four-year BDS admission would be done on the basis of NEET and later it would be gradually upgraded. The academic session will start from September next year.

 

Expressed gratitude to PM Modi and Health Minister

The Chief Minister also thanked the Prime Minister and Union Health and Family Welfare Minister Mansukh Mandaviya for giving permission to set up the Dental College in the State. The northeastern state has the government-run Agartala Medical College (AGMC) and the society-run Tripura Medical College and Teaching Hospital.
