No one knows what US President Donald Trump will say at any moment and what he will do the next moment. On one hand, Trump imposes a 50 percent tariff on India, while on the other hand, he calls India his true friend. America has always been infamous for such acts.
Now, once again, America has done something similar. According to the report of the Financial Times, America has asked the G7 countries to impose tariffs of up to 100 percent on India and China. Earlier, it had also put pressure on the European Union to do so.
G-7 Finance Ministers will hold a meeting
On Friday, the Finance Ministers of the major economies of the G-7 will hold a meeting on video call. In this, new proposals prepared by America in the course of Donald Trump's efforts to reach a peace agreement in Ukraine will be discussed. People having information related to this meeting have claimed that America will put pressure on the G-7 countries to impose heavy duties on India and China for buying Russian oil.
There is no clear information about how much this duty will be, but it is being said that the US has proposed to impose tariffs between 50 and 100 percent. Earlier, a spokesperson for the US Treasury Department had said, 'We made it clear to our EU partners that if they are serious about ending the war in their country, they will have to join us in imposing meaningful tariffs.'
Referring to the G-7, he said that our G7 partners also need to step up with us. Let us tell you that last month, the US increased the tariff on India to 50 percent. The European Union also buys about a fifth of its gas from Russia.
