Weather Update: Delhi shivered due to severe cold, and traffic was affected from ground to sky; Impact on 22 trains and 134 flights

Due to the cold winds coming from the mountains, the cold has increased in the plains. There was fog in Delhi NCR on Thursday morning, but not as much as it was yesterday. People are facing problems due to increasing cold and fog. Along with road traffic, railway and air services have been affected. Many trains and flights are running late. At the same time, visibility in many areas of Delhi NCR ranges from 0-50 meters. At 5:30 am on December 28, visibility of 50 meters was recorded in Safdarjung and 25 meters in Palam.

 

Flights are also being affected due to dense fog. According to Delhi Airport FIDS, around 134 arriving and departing flights (domestic and international) are being affected at Delhi Airport. According to Indian Railways, 22 trains are running late in Delhi region.

 

Earlier, around 30 international and domestic flights were affected from Tuesday night to Wednesday morning due to fog. During this period, visibility was recorded up to 50 meters at Palam Airport and 125 meters at Safdarjung Airport. The situation became normal this afternoon. At the same time, the movement of trains was badly affected in the morning. Trains like Rajdhani and Vande Bharat either left late by hours or reached Delhi late. The operation of more than 50 trains has been affected. Due to this people had to face a lot of trouble. Due to dense fog, 11 flights were diverted to Jaipur and one flight to Lucknow. After the improvement in visibility, all the planes landed back at Delhi Airport by noon.

 

On Wednesday, Delhi's minimum temperature was recorded at 7.8 degrees Celsius, which was one degree above normal. The minimum temperature in some areas was 7.4 degrees, while the maximum temperature was recorded at 22 degrees, two degrees above normal. The sun shone after the dense fog had cleared since morning. The effect of the fog lasted till 11 am.

 

School timings changed in Ghaziabad

Due to fog, school timings have been changed in Ghaziabad. District Basic Education Officer, Ghaziabad has ordered to operate all schools from class 1 to 8 from 10 am to 3 pm.
