The Supreme Court is scheduled to hear the case of rape and murder of a female doctor at Kolkata's RG Kar Medical College on Monday. Before this hearing, the government doctors of Bengal held a rally across the state. In protest against the RG Kar incident, the state's doctors stopped work for 41 days, and only recently have the health services become normal. Doctors are demanding tightening the security arrangements of doctors in workplaces.
Doctors' eyes on the Supreme Court hearing
Doctors took out a protest march in various government hospitals of the state under the banner of West Bengal Junior Doctors Front. Recently, there has been an incident of doctors being beaten up by the relatives of the patient in Sagar Dutta Hospital located in North 24 Parganas district of Bengal. Doctors are angry about this too. It is worth noting that the junior doctors of West Bengal announced on Saturday that after the Supreme Court hearing, they can start a work stoppage strike again. Doctors say that they are keeping an eye on the affidavit filed by the state government in the Supreme Court and will decide on their next step only after that.
