Thereafter, it is very likely to move north-westwards towards the Tamil Nadu-Puducherry coasts within 48 hours. Due to this, changes in meteorological activities can be seen.

The Meteorological Department said heavy rains are likely over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal, and Kerala and Mahe. IMD has issued rain alerts in many parts of Punjab.

According to Skymet, a Western Disturbance is over Jammu and Kashmir and adjoining regions. An Induced Cyclonic Circulation lies over Pakistan and adjoining Punjab. Due to this, easterly winds will continue for the next two to three days. Therefore the contribution of smoke from farm fires will remain at a lower level.
