The Met department forecast said that heavy to very heavy rain may occur at isolated places over Chennai, Chengalpet, Kancheepuram, and Tiruvallur on November 21 and 22. Heavy rain alert has also been issued in other northern districts.

Heavy rain is likely because a low pressure over the southeast Bay of Bengal will move west-westwards and concentrate into a depression over the central Bay of Bengal during the next 48 hours. It is expected to move northwestwards and cross Bengal. It will remain active along the coast between North Tamil Nadu and South Andhra for the next three days.
