Also, moderate rain with light thunder and lightning is likely in many places in these districts. Even today, rain continues in Kanchipuram and some parts of Tamil Nadu, causing waterlogging in some areas.

Heavy rainfall occurred in many parts of Chennai as Cyclone 'Michong' approached the coast. At the same time, according to IMD data, in the last 24 hours, 5.88 cm of rainfall has been recorded in Chennai Nungambakkam, while 7.12 cm of rainfall has been recorded in Chennai Meenambakkam. Heavy rain occurred in many parts of the city after a low-pressure area centered over the southeast adjoining the southwest Bay of Bengal on Friday.

According to Chennai Meteorological Centre, in the next three hours, some isolated places are expected in Ranipettai, Tiruvannamalai, Villupuram, Cuddalore, Mayiladuthurai, Thanjavur, Ariyalur, Perambalur, Kallakurichi, Vellore, Tirupattur, Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri Salem, Namakkal, Tiruchirappalli, Thanjavur, Tiruvarur and Nagapattinam districts. There is a possibility of moderate rain and lightning in places. Let us inform you that due to heavy rains, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams rescued about 15 people from the Tambaram area near Peerkankaranai and Perungalathur due to severe waterlogging in the city.
