Snowfall has started in the hilly states of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand. Its effect is also visible in the plains. It is starting to feel cold in the morning and evening.
However, the Meteorological Department has predicted that till Diwali, it may rain in many states of the country. The Meteorological Department has issued a warning of heavy to very heavy rain in Tamil Nadu, Kerala in South India today i.e. on 21 October 2022. IMD has issued yellow alerts in 8 states. On the other hand, the weather conditions may worsen in the next few days in Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand.
Heavy rain is likely in these states today
According to the Meteorological Department, on October 21, rain may occur in many parts of Maharashtra, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Kerala, Andaman-Nicobar Islands, Lakshadweep, Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand. Heavy to very heavy rains may occur in some states.
Why is the weather pattern changing?
The Meteorological Department has forecast rain in many areas of the state, and snowfall on the higher peaks. According to IMD, the effect of Western Disturbance coming over the Himalayas is likely to be visible in the Gangetic plains from next week. Meanwhile, the low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal may turn into a cyclone by the weekend. According to the Meteorological Department, a low-pressure area is likely to form over the southwest and adjoining east-central part of the Bay of Bengal.
Cyclone alert in Odisha
The Odisha government has canceled the leave of employees from October 23 to October 25. Also, the state has issued an alert for its coastal districts. At the same time, in the Arabian Sea, a new cyclonic pressure center is seen forming in the lower troposphere near Karnataka and the Konkan coast. With this, a western disturbance is forming. Due to this, there is a possibility of rain in many states of the country in the next week.
Delhi feels hot during the day, and cold at night
Amidst the ever-changing weather conditions, Delhi is feeling hot during the day, while it is cold at night. According to the Meteorological Department, the day temperature will also start falling in the coming days. Light haze was seen again on Thursday morning. Visibility was also affected partially. Later, the weather cleared with the rising of the sun and the sun was shining. The Meteorological Department has forecast that the sky will remain clear till next week. The maximum and minimum temperatures may be recorded at 32 and 16 to 17 degrees Celsius respectively.
Chance of snow in Himachal
There is a possibility of snowfall in high-altitude areas and rain in some areas in Himachal Pradesh on Friday. The weather turned cold on Thursday due to rain and snow. People have to take off warm clothes.
Weather patterns changed in Punjab
In Punjab, the weather pattern will change again in most areas from Friday. It will be cloudy and rain is also expected in some places. Cold winds are likely to blow over the state. Night temperatures will also drop.
