What did Ravi Shastri say about Virat Kohli's batting position in IPL 2022?

The biggest talking point for Royal Challengers Bangalore in IPL 2022 is Virat Kohli's batting position. Apart from batting at number three for RCB, Kohli has also opened several seasons. In IPL 2021, Kohli scored more than 400 runs as an opener with three half-centuries. Looking at these figures, RCB would like to play him as an opener, but this year there is no AB de Villiers in the middle order, due to which RCB's trouble has increased. In such a situation, Ravi Shastri has given his opinion about Kohli's batting position in IPL 2022.

Talking to ESPNcricinfo, Ravi Shastri said, "It depends on the balance of the team. Don't know what their middle order is, but if they have a very strong middle order, then there is no harm in opening Virat."

If Kohli opens with Faf du Plessis, then there is no big name in the middle order except Glenn Maxwell and Dinesh Karthik. In such a situation, Kohli would like to strengthen the middle order by batting at number three, and with Faf du Plessis, the team can give a chance to an Indian young player.

Earlier, Daniel Vettori, former captain of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), while talking to ESPN Cricinfo said that Kohli should open for RCB.

He had said, "I think every year it is a topic of discussion. Every year till the end of the season, Virat Kohli's opening proves to be the right option. I think Kohli performs better in situations where he is given more time Goes."

RCB will play their first match on March 27 against Punjab Kings.
