Home Minister Amit Shah had held frequent meetings with many BJP MPs in the past. Since then there were speculations that perhaps these people could be made a part of the cabinet expansion of the Modi government. On this, it has now been told by the BJP that it was for the feedback on the functioning of the government. According to party sources, Amit Shah met the MPs and took feedback on the functioning of the government. Apart from this, the situation arising out of the Corona crisis and other issues were discussed. In the last week, PM Narendra Modi has also met many of his ministers. Apart from this, a round of meetings has also taken place at the house of BJP Chief JP Nadda.
Amit Shah had met party MPs coming from UP, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Gujarat, and some other states on Saturday and Sunday. During the weekend, about 30 MPs and some ministers had reached his house. Due to this, speculation about the cabinet expansion of the Modi government has intensified. However, the party says that after the second wave of Corona has softened, political activities have intensified and the process of meetings has started. Sources say that in these meetings, Amit Shah spoke to the MPs about the situation in their area and learned about the efforts being made by them to deal with Corona.
The posts of 28 ministers are vacant in the Modi cabinet at the Centre. In such a situation, there has often been speculation that the cabinet can be expanded at anytime. However, till now nothing has been said officially by the party or the government on this. Recently one seat fell vacant even after the death of LJP leader Ram Vilas Paswan. He was handling the Ministry of Food Supplies. At present, apart from PM Modi, there are 21 cabinet ministers in the government. Apart from this, 9 ministers of state have independent charge and 23 leaders have been given the responsibility of ministers of state.
