Juhu police has arrested Bollywood actress Alia Bhatt's former personal assistant (PA) Vedika Prakash Shetty. Vedika is accused of committing fraud of Rs 76,90,892 from Alia's production house, Eternal Sunshine Productions Private Limited, and her personal accounts.
Alia's mother had lodged a complaint
Shetty, who was arrested in Bengaluru, was brought to Mumbai on a five-day transit remand and produced before a city court on Tuesday. The fraud was allegedly committed over a period of two years between May 2022 and August 2024. The matter came to light when Alia's mother Soni Razdan, who is also the director of Eternal Sunshine Productions Pvt Ltd, lodged a complaint with the Juhu police on January 23. After this, a case was registered under sections 406 (criminal breach of trust) and 420 (fraud) of the Indian Penal Code. What did Vedika do?
According to police sources, Vedika Shetty worked as the actress's personal assistant from 2021 to 2024. During this time, she used to handle Alia's financial documents and payments. Along with this, she also used to look after her travel and plan it.
What was Alia's signature used to be taken?
According to police sources, the investigation has revealed that Vedika Shetty allegedly prepared fake bills and took Alia's signature on it and grabbed the money while the actress was told that these expenses were for her travel, meetings and other related arrangements.
According to the police, Vedika Prakash Shetty, a resident of NG Cooperative Housing Society Road, Marol, cheated both the company and Alia in a planned manner. Being Alia's secretary, she had important financial responsibilities, which Vedika is accused of misusing. At present, no statement has come from Alia in this matter.
