Recently, the incident of an animal collision with the Vande Bharat train has alerted the Railway Police. The Railway Protection Force (RPF) has started issuing notices to the Sarpanches of the villages along the rail route in Palghar, Maharashtra. In the notice, they have been asked not to allow stray animals near the tracks. Officials gave this information on Friday. It has been warned in the notice that if the owner of any cattle is found to be negligent, then legal action will be taken against him.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the semi-high-speed express train service between the capitals of Gujarat and Maharashtra on 30 September. Since its inception, there have been three incidents in Gujarat in which a train collided with cattle. Western Railway Chief Spokesperson Sumit Thakur told PTI that the notices are being issued by the Mumbai Division of RPF to village sarpanches, in which the officials have appealed to the residents not to allow their cattle near the tracks so that Such accidents can be avoided. Thakur said that the notices issued to Sarpanches are preventive.

It is worth mentioning that last Saturday, some cattle were hit by the Mumbai-Gandhinagar Vande Bharat Superfast Express train near Atul station in Gujarat. This was the third such incident since the commencement of the train service. Earlier, on October 6 and 7 also some cattle were hit by the train. Both these incidents happened in Gujarat. In all these incidents, there were no injuries to the passengers. However, the front part of the train was damaged.

Thakur said, "Such incidents have adversely affected rail operations. Such incidents have increased the chances of train accidents and train derailments. This not only disrupts rail traffic and damage railway property but also poses danger to the passengers. But because of this, there is always a possibility of major accidents happening. "The RPF has conducted 1,023 awareness campaigns so far this year at risky places," Thakur said.
