Russia is increasing its attacks on Ukraine day by day. About half a million homes in the city have been darkened in the latest attack by the Russian army on the Ukrainian capital Kyiv. Due to the swift strike of the Russian army, the power supply in these houses has come to a standstill. Al Jazeera quoted the mayor of Kyiv, Vitali Klitschko.
Klitschko on Telegram condemned the Russian missile attacks on Ukrainian cities and civilians, saying the power supply to four and a half million homes in the capital Kyiv has been cut since this morning on Friday. The number of houses is one and a half times more than in the recent past. Ukraine's Atomic Energy Agency said on Thursday that a Russian attack damaged the electricity supply system connecting the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant to the Ukraine grid.
On Russia's targeting of Ukraine's energy fields, President Vladimir Zelensky said it showed the weakness of the enemy. They can't beat Ukraine on the battlefield and that's why they are trying to break our people like this. At the same time, CNN quoted Klitschko as saying that due to the massive blackout in Ukraine, residents there are facing a serious water crisis.
He said that a major power supply system has been affected due to the strike. Through this electricity is supplied to about 1.5 million apartments in Kyiv. He said that every effort is being made to bring the situation under control.
