Why Team India lost to South Africa: Only Surya shone, rest of the batsmen failed - Ashwin again expensive; Know 5 reasons for the defeat

Team India, who won 2 consecutive victories in the T20 World Cup, lost the third match against South Africa on Sunday. Batting first after winning the toss, India gave a target of 134 runs to South Africa. Suryakumar Yadav took India to a fighting total by scoring 68 runs off 40 balls, but the rest of the batsmen flopped.

In the fielding, India lost three chances to get wickets and Ashwin again proved costly. This is India's first defeat in this World Cup. In this story, we will try to understand in 5 points why Team India lost this match...

5. Poor bowling by Ashwin

From Pakistan to South Africa in the first matches of the World Cup. Ashwin has proved unsuccessful. He did 3 overs against Pakistan. Looted 23 runs at an economy of about 8 and the wicket column remained empty. Took 2 wickets for 21 runs in 4 overs against the Netherlands.

The team had high hopes for Ashwin in the match against South Africa. The reason for this was that South Africa had good left-handed batters. Ashwin's performance here too was poor. He conceded 43 runs in 4 overs and took just one wicket. Now it is very possible that in the next match, he may not get a place in the playing XI.

4. Middle-order flop except for Suriya

The biggest reason for India's defeat was poor batting. The middle order proved to be a flop. Lokesh Rahul, Virat Kohli, Deepak Hooda, Hardik Pandya, and Dinesh Karthik's bat remained silent. Team India had lost 5 big wickets for 49 runs at one time.

Due to a poor start, the team could not give a big target. Eight of our batsmen could not even reach two figures. Captain Rohit Sharma made a change in the playing XI for this match. Deepak Hooda was given a chance in place of Akshar Patel, but he could not even open the account.

3. Virat Fails, Team Fails

At the moment, Virat Kohli is in amazing form. Against Pakistan, he played a blistering inning of 82 runs to win India. King Kohli's bat also played well against the Netherlands. He scored 62 runs in 44 balls.

A big innings was expected from Virat against South Africa too, but he could not do much. He faced 11 balls and got out after scoring 12 runs. Then our middle order collapsed. If Virat fails, the whole team also fails.

2. Poor fielding

The kind of game that Team India showed against South Africa, it was not worth winning in the true sense. At one point Arshdeep got off to a good start and dismissed De Kock. The team could have come back. He also got plenty of opportunities, but fielding spoiled the whole game. Suryakumar Yadav missed one and Rohit Sharma missed two run-out chances. Rohit could not run out Markram on the fifth ball of the 13th over.

Virat Kohli left a simple catch of Markram on the score of 35 runs in the fifth ball of the 12th over. On the fifth ball of the 15th over, Markram played a shot on the leg side. The ball was in the air for a long time, but the ball fell between Virat and Hardik. Markram took full advantage of this and scored 52 runs in 41 balls. By then he had brought the team on the path to victory.

1. Rahul flopped again

KL Rahul scored just 9 runs and then proved to be a flop. This is the third consecutive match in the T20 World Cup 2022 when Rahul flopped. India had earlier registered a spectacular victory in the match between Pakistan and Netherlands, but in both these matches, Rahul could not do anything special.

Because of Rahul's poor performance, questions are being raised about his playing in the next match. Rishabh Pant can be given a chance in his place. Pant has not played a single match in this tournament so far.
