Pakistan has opposed the G-20 meetings to be held in Jammu and Kashmir next year. Pakistan has said that it completely denies India's plans for the G20 meetings. Along with this, the neighboring country has described Jammu and Kashmir as a disputed area between India and Pakistan. Pakistan said the dispute has been on the agenda of the UN Security Council for more than seven decades.

Jammu and Kashmir will host the 2023 meeting of the G-20, an influential grouping that brings together the world's major economies. The administration of the Union Territory on Thursday constituted a five-member high-level committee for coordination.

Pakistan Foreign Office Spokesperson Asim Iftikhar Ahmed said in a statement that Islamabad has taken cognizance of reports in the Indian media which indicate that India may consider holding some G20-related meetings in Jammu and Kashmir. . "Pakistan completely denies any such attempt by India," Ahmed said.

Told Jammu and Kashmir a disputed area of international level

He said it is well known that Jammu and Kashmir is an internationally recognized "disputed" area between Pakistan and India and has been on the agenda of the UN Security Council for more than seven decades. Ahmed said that Pakistan also urges the international community to call upon India to withdraw its decision taken on August 5, 2019, and to release all political prisoners.

Jammu and Kashmir administration approved the committee

The order of the Jammu and Kashmir administration said that the Principal Secretary, Housing and Urban Development will head the committee, which has been constituted following the letter dated June 4 of the Ministry of External Affairs. The order issued by Manoj Kumar Dwivedi, Principal Secretary, General Administration Department, said, "It is approved to constitute a committee for overall coordination of the G20 meetings to be held in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir."

Tension increased after the abrogation of Article 370

Tensions have escalated between India and Pakistan after India abrogated certain provisions of Article 370 of the Constitution to end the special status of Jammu and Kashmir on August 5, 2019. This move of the Indian government was strongly opposed by Pakistan all over the world and is still doing so. However, the Indian government has always rejected his opposition.
