Will Putin pay India's price to Shahbaz? Pakistan wants to buy oil from Russia

With the rate at which Russia is selling oil to India, Pakistan also wants to buy oil from Putin at the same rate. Pakistan's Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, who is on a visit to the United States, has expressed his government's desire. He has said that Pakistan is ready to buy fuel from Russia if it gives us the same rate at which it is selling oil to India. The minister also claimed that western countries would have no problem procuring subsidized fuel from Pakistan. He said that his country is grappling with the devastating effects of the floods.

Let us tell you that on the day Russia attacked Ukraine, the then Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan was in Moscow. His visit was by no means welcomed by the United States. Imran Khan later blamed the US. He accused the US of conspiracy to oust PTI from power in Pakistan. At the same time, Imran Khan praised India for negotiating fuel prices with Russia. He also said that his visit to Moscow was pre-planned.

Pakistan is the 35th largest importer of crude petroleum in the world. In 2020-21, it imported crude oil worth $1.92 billion.

Pakistan has approved its intention to buy oil from Russia. Pakistan's ambassador to Moscow Shafqat Ali Khan said that his country wants to buy wheat from Russia. "Russia has emerged as a new supplier for us. We see Russia as a long-term and stable partner when it comes to our food supply," the ambassador said.
