Gurugram Even though no concrete steps are yet to be taken at the district level regarding Black Fungus infection (mucormycosis), the outbreak has started increasing in the district. In this sequence, a woman who came for treatment at Fortis Hospital has died of mucormycosis. Originally a resident of Alwar, Rajasthan, the woman was brought to the Fortis Hospital for treatment on Sunday, where she died. It is known that a separate center has been opened in Fortis Hospital for the treatment of patients with black fungus infection. Hospital management says that the main cause of death was cardiac arrest.
Talking about the black fungus infection, the CM claimed on Sunday that so far, about 70 patients have come to the state, but reportedly more than 40 of them have been infected in private hospitals in the district. However, most of these are also from other states, because of which CM's claim cannot be dismissed.
So far, more than two dozen patients have come to the Fortis Hospital alone, in which many of the infected have been treated successfully. The district health department has not been able to take any concrete steps so far regarding mucormycosis. Only private hospitals have been asked to provide information about patients. However, Chief Minister Manohar Lal had said on Sunday to open 4 centers in the state for the treatment of patients suffering from black fungus infection. One of these will be opened at Sgt Medical College, Gurugram. As of now, the District Health Department does not formally have information about a single infected person suffering from black fungus infection.
